This Day’s Thought-Friday

This Day's Thought

Man is equally incapable of seeing the nothingness from which he emerges and the infinity in which he is engulfed.

Blaise Pascal

This Day's Verse

“The LORD lives, and blessed be my rock, and exalted be my God, the rock of my salvation,”

2 Samuel 22:47
The English Standard Version

This Day's Smile

A traveler in an outlying community was being shown the small but beautiful church erected at a cost of much time and sacrifice on the part of the people. He expressed amazement that it should be so beautifully and completely equipped with electric lights, as he had not known that electricity was available in the district. “It looks beautiful,” he was informed, “but we have no connection with the power.” How true this is of many so-called Christians! Their work looks beautiful, but because they have no connection with the only source of real power, they are useless and unjustified in the sight of God, who looketh not on the outward appearance.

This Day's Thought

Thou hast commanded that an ill-regulated mind should be its own punishment.

Augustine

This Day's Verse

Let my cry come near before thee, O Lord: give me understanding according to thy word. Let my supplication come before thee: deliver me according to thy word. My lips shall utter praise, when thou hast taught me thy statutes. My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness. Let thine hand help me; for I have chosen thy precepts. I have longed for thy salvation, O Lord; and thy law is my delight. Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee; and let thy judgments help me. I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments.

Psalm 119:169-176
The King James Version

This Day's Thought

I learned the interior of life was as rewarding as the exterior life, and that my richest moments occurred when I was absolutely still.

Richard Bode

This Day's Verse

“In all this I have given you an example that by such work we must support the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, for he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

This Day's Thought

You have a solemn obligation to take care of yourself because you never know when the world will need you.

This Day's Thought

Speak tenderly. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting. Always have a cheerful smile, but give your heart as well.

Mother Teresa

This Day's Verse

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

This Day’s Thought-Friday

This Day's Thought

I this day [June 28, 1788] enter on my eighty-sixth year; and what cause have I to praise God, as for a thousand spiritual blessings, so for bodily blessings also! How little have I suffered yet by “the rush of numerous years”! To what cause can I impute this, that I am as I am? First, doubtless, to the power of God, fitting me for the work to which I am called, as long as he pleases to continue me therein; and next, subordinately to this, to the prayers of his children.
May we not impute it, as inferior means:
-To my constant exercise and change of air?
-To my never having lost a night’s sleep, sick or well, at land or at sea, since I was born?
-To my having sleep at command, so that whenever I feel myself almost worn out, I call it, and it comes, day or night?
-To my having constantly, for above sixty years, risen at four in the morning?
-To my constant preaching at five in the morning, for above fifty years?
-To my having had so little pain in my life, and so little sorrow, or anxious care?

John Wesley

This Day's Verse

But godliness with contentment is great gain.

1 Timothy 6:6
The King James Version

This Day’s Thought-Our Last November Update

This Day's Thought

Dear Ministry Members,

As we come to the close of November and near the end of another year, we want to again express our sincere gratitude for you. Your prayers, encouragement, and faithful readership make it possible for us to share these daily reflections as we worship our Lord and Savior together.

Each “seed for the day” is offered with the prayer that God will use it to strengthen your walk with Him and to encourage your heart. What a gift it has been to serve you throughout this month—and throughout these many years.

January will mark the beginning of our 27th year of ministry. As we prepare for the year ahead, we once more offer the opportunity for those who feel led to support This Day’s Thought financially. We are certainly blessed by your donations throughout the year, but if you sense God’s prompting at this time, you may make a contribution using the link below.

Your generosity enables us to continue sharing these daily devotionals and to reach hearts around the world with the richness of Christian thought. We are truly grateful for every gift, every prayer, and every word of encouragement.

Thank you for being part of this ministry family. May God bless you richly as we enter the Advent season and look with hope to the coming year.

In His Love,
Greg, for This Day’s Thought

This’s Day’s Thought is an important part of my daily time with the Lord.  I really appreciate all your hard work!

Thank you for your daily messages. Often times it says exactly what I need to hear. Praise God for His goodness!

First thing I read each morning.  Love the variety of sources.

Thank you for sharing the Bible verses and quotes free of charge. They are always inspirational and up-lifting. I know God is using your ministry to bless many people, including me. Thank you for answering His call!!!

Thank you Greg! I do thoroughly enjoy your weekly quotes and copy a quote at the bottom of my emails; changing the quotes from time to time. Thank you for your service to the Lord!

I am a recent college graduate and have been receiving This Day’s Thought for about a year and a half now. The thoughts I find in my inbox always provoke a challenge within me, particularly in the uncertainty that surrounded me in college. Some have been inspirational, but others have taught me much about God and given me an alternate perspective that has drawn me closer to Him. Thank you for providing this service and making it free and available to all. Thanks for your time and for all you do.

I have been receiving these encouraging messages since 2009.  A big thank you.

For the past 15 years I email every Saturday a Bible truth to my 4 grandkids.  2 follow and 2, while baptized, are wandering some.  I try to make it less “churchy” and send encouraging admonitions that are life lessons (based on the Bible).  Since I have subscribed I frequently use a quote from one of the weekly daily thoughts from your site.  You have played a great part in their lives and I thank you.

Your daily messages are such a blessing and we pray you will be providing them for many years ahead. With God’s daily blessings.

Thank you for these beautiful Devotionals. Please keep them coming because I have found them to be most helpful preparing me for the day ahead. Blessings.

Your stewardship of this ministry is a great blessing to me and countless others! Blessings.

Be blessed. Your ministry is a treasure.

This Day's Thought

Thanksgiving Day is a jewel to set in the hearts of honest men; but be careful that you do not take the day and leave out the gratitude.

E. P. Powell

This Day's Verse

And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

This Day’s Thought-Tuesday

This Day's Thought

There is danger of leaving God out of our Thanksgiving Day. We are making it a holiday rather than a holy day. It is a day for the public recognition of God as the giver of all good. To leave God out of Thanksgiving Day is as absurd as leaving Christ out of Christmas.

This Day's Verse

Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
The King James Version

This Day's Smile

A thankful spirit is like sunshine upon the fields.
