This Day’s Thought-Tuesday

This Day's Thought

In truth we should be aware above all that our thoughts have three possible sources—God, the devil and ourselves.

John Cassian

This Day's Verse

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:39
The King James Version

This Day's Reprise

If a man carries his cross beautifully and makes it radiant with glory of a meek and gentle spirit, the time will come when the things that now disturb will be the events for which he will most of all give gratitude to God.

This Day’s Thought-Thursday

This Day's Thought

In the West you have another kind of poverty, spiritual poverty. This is far worse. People do not believe in God, do not pray. People do not care for each other. You have the poverty of people who are dissatisfied with what they have, who do not know how to suffer, who give in to despair. This poverty of heart is often more difficult to relieve and to defeat.

Mother Teresa

This Day's Verse

The wise of heart is called a man of discernment, and pleasant speech increases persuasiveness.

Proverbs 16:21
The Revised Standard Version

This Day's Reprise

We can thank God for everything good, and all the rest we don’t comprehend yet.

This Day’s Thought-Thursday

This Day's Thought

The baptism of the Holy Spirit, or regeneration, occurs when the sinner abandons himself wholly to Christ, in mind, heart, will, thus appropriating Christ’s imputed righteousness, and when, upon that surrender of the sinner to him, Christ imparts to the sinner the life of God, changing him from a carnal to a spiritual creature.

J. C. Massee

This Day's Verse

I give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing your praise; I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word. On the day I called, you answered me; my strength of soul you increased.

Psalm 138:1-3
The English Standard Version

This Day's Reprise

A spirit of thankfulness is one of the most distinctive marks of a Christian whose heart is attuned to the Lord. Thank God in the midst of trials and every persecution.

Billy Graham

This Day’s Thought-Friday

This Day's Thought

Goodness is something so simple; always to live for others, never to seek one’s own advantage.

Dag Hammarskjöld

For such is God, Our God forever and ever; He will guide us until death.

Psalm 48:14
The New American Standard Bible

This Day's Thought

At opening your eyes, enter upon the day with thanksgiving for the preservation of you the last night, with the glorification of God for the works of creation.

Jeremy Taylor

This Day's Verse

O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures for ever!

This Day’s Thought-Wednesday

This Day's Thought

Thanksgiving Day is a jewel to set in the hearts of honest men; but be careful that you do not take the day and leave out the gratitude.

E. P. Powell

This Day's Verse

And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

Colossians 3:15
The New Living Translation

This Day's Smile

Thanksgiving creates abundance.

This Day’s Thought-Tuesday

This Day's Thought

There is danger of leaving God out of our Thanksgiving Day. We are making it a holiday rather than a holy day. It is a day for the public recognition of God as the giver of all good. To leave God out of Thanksgiving Day is as absurd as leaving Christ out of Christmas.

This Day's Verse

Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
The King James Version

This Day's Smile

A thankful spirit is like sunshine upon the fields.

This Day’s Thought-Tuesday & Update

Dear Friends in Christ,

As we enter this season of thanksgiving, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for you—our readers—who share with us in daily worship of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

We continue to prayerfully offer our best in Christian thought through these brief “seeds for the day,” meant to inspire and encourage you in your walk with God.

This coming January marks our 27th year together. As we have traditionally done each November, we invite those who feel led to support this ministry financially. Your gifts and pledges are a true blessing, enabling us to plan for another year of sharing God’s truth and encouragement around the world.

Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and faithful support. It is a joy and privilege to serve you.

In His Love,
Greg for This Day’s Thought

This Day's Thought

Have you wept for your sin so that you were indeed sorrowful in your spirit? Are you so sorrowful that you hate it? Do you so hate it that you have left it?

Jeremy Taylor

This Day's Verse

The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

John 1:17
The New Revised Standard Version

This Day's Reprise

God doesn’t call people who are qualified. He calls people who are willing, and then He qualifies them.
