This Day’s Thought-Friday

This Day's Thought

However much we do to avoid them, we shall never lack crosses in this life if we are in the ranks of the Crucified.

Teresa of Avila

This Day's Verse

Keep alert, stand firm in your faith, be courageous, be strong.  Let all that you do be done in love.

1 Corinthians 16:13-14

This Day’s Thought-Thursday

This Day's Thought

Christian contemplation is not something esoteric and dangerous.  It is simply the experience of God that is given to a soul purified by humility and faith.

Thomas Merton

This Day's Verse

The entirety of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.

Psalm 119:160
The New King James Version

This Day's Reprise

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy.

This Day's Thought

God does not make clones.  Each person is different, a tribute to God’s creativity.  If we are to love our neighbors as ourselves, we must accept people as they are and not demand that they conform to our own image.

Henry Fehren

This Day's Verse

Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?”

John 11:40
The English Standard Version

This Day's Smile

Little Matthew was asked by a stranger how old he was.  “I’m four,” replied the boy.  “And when will you be five?”  Matthew thought this over for a moment, and then said, “When I’m through being four.”

This Day's Thought

Be content with your daily bread, and remember that in the desert manna gathered for a future day grew putrid at once.

François Fénelon

This Day's Verse

Let someone else praise you, and not your own mouth; an outsider, and not your own lips.

Proverbs 27:2
The New International Version

This Day's Reprise

There is nothing but God’s grace.  We walk upon it; we breathe it; we live and die by it; it makes the nails and axles of the universe.

This Day’s Thought-Monday with Special Note

Dear Ministry Members…Our November Fundraising Note…

We begin our 25th year of ministry this coming January 1st…what a joy it has been serving you during this span of time.  And if it is in the Lord’s will, we hope to share with you for another 25 years!

Recapping from the very beginning, we have sought to share the very best in Christian thought with you, always offering new and never-previously-shared-quotations prayerfully chosen each and every day.  And we will continue to follow this model, just as we have shared Scripture from some eight different versions and paraphrases of the Bible, so as to present versions we might not be as familiar with—that might help in our expanded understanding of the Lord’s Word.

Your comments, your prayers and your financial support have meant so much to us for so long, and it is only for the Lord’s blessing, through all of you, that we have been able to continue reaching so many people from all over the world with these Christian seeds for the day.

November has historically been our month of fundraising for the ministry, and as we prepare for this next new year, we once again present the opportunity for you to consider investing in our efforts of sharing our daily messages with those in need for such encouragement and inspiration.

If you feel led to help us with your financial support as we begin our 25th year together, you may do so by clicking on the link below…

Thank you and may God bless you in your continued walk with Him.

This Day's Thought

Begin to realize more and more that prayer is the most important thing you do.  You can use your time to no better advantage than to pray whenever you have an opportunity to do so, either alone or with others; while at work, while at rest, or while walking down the street.  Anywhere!

Ole Hallesby

This Day's Verse

And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

Isaiah 6:3
The King James Version

A person may sometimes have a clear conscience simply because his head is empty.

This Day's Thought

People say that it is so hard to bring Jesus Christ and present him before the lives of men today.  Of course it is, it is so hard that it is impossible except by the power of the indwelling Holy Ghost.

Oswald Chambers

This Day's Verse

“The gracious hand of our God is on everyone who looks to him, but his great anger is against all who forsake him.”

Ezra 8:22
The New International Version

This Day's Smile

God always walks ahead of us.

This Day’s Thought-Tuesday

This Day's Thought

They that love beyond the world cannot be separated by it.  Death cannot kill what never dies, nor can spirits ever be divided that love and live in the same divine principle.

William Penn

This Day's Verse

And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.   And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?  Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.  I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.  As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.  When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.

John 9:1-7
The King James Version

This Day's Reprise
