This Day’s Thought-Friday

This Day's Thought

We always find that those who walked closest to Christ were those who had to bear the greatest trials.

Teresa of Avila

This Day's Verse

The Lord recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.

This Day’s Thought-Thursday

This Day's Thought

Are you uncertain about which direction you should go?  Take your question to God and receive guidance from either the light of His smile or the cloud of His refusal.  You must get alone with Him, where the lights and the darknesses of this world cannot interfere and where the opinions of others cannot reach you.  You must also have the courage to wait in silent expectation, even when everyone around you is insisting on an immediate decision or action.  If you will do these things, the will of God will become clear to you.  And you will have a deeper concept of who He is, having more insight into His nature and His heart of love.

This Day's Verse

One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.

Psalm 27:4
The Revised Standard Version

This Day's Thought

I have never found anyone who prayed so well as those who had never been taught how.  They who have no master in man have one in the Holy Spirit.

Albert Lacombe

This Day's Verse

Then shall your light break forth like the dawn, and your healing shall spring up speedily; your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.

This Day's Thought

Dear friend, God may send you some valuable gifts wrapped in unattractive paper.  But do not worry about the wrappings, for you can be sure that inside He has hidden treasures of love, kindness, and wisdom.  If we will simply take what He sends and trust Him for the blessings inside, we will learn the meaning of the secrets of His providence, even in times of darkness.

A. B. Simpson

This Day's Verse

He tenderly laid His hand upon me to say, “My dear child, your only safety comes from loving, trusting, and praising Me through everything.”

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

This Day’s Thought-Friday

This Day's Thought

We pray because we are orchestras and always need to tune up.  Just as a battery sometimes runs down and needs to be charged, so we have to be renewed in spiritual vigor.  Our blessed Lord said, “Without me you can do nothing.”

Fulton J. Sheen

This Day's Verse

The native people showed us unusual kindness, for they kindled a fire and welcomed us all, because it had begun to rain and was cold.

Acts 28:2
The English Standard Version

This Day’s Thought-Wednesday

This Day's Thought

All people become closer, more or less, to one of two opposite limits: one is life only for oneself, and the other is life only for God.

Leo Tolstoy

This Day's Verse

Behold, I will bring to it health and healing, and I will heal them and reveal to them abundance of prosperity and security.  I will restore the fortunes of Judah and the fortunes of Israel, and rebuild them as they were at first.  I will cleanse them from all the guilt of their sin against me, and I will forgive all the guilt of their sin and rebellion against me.

This Day’s Thought-Ministry Update

This Day's Thought

Dear Ministry Members, Thank you for your continued prayers and support for This Day’s Thought, as we go forward this year as an independent ministry once again.  We will continue to reserve November as our primary fundraising month, but at this half-way point of our year, if you do feel so led to aid us in our continued efforts of sharing a daily Christian “seed” to those in need, we so appreciate your continued financial assistance in these efforts.  Your prayers for the Lord’s wisdom, direction and blessing over this ministry are imperative for our continued success.  Thank you.  If you do wish to contribute at this time, you may do so by visiting: “Donate.”

Sincerely, Greg for This Day’s Thought

And a few of your warm encouragements…

“Your thoughts have been an encouragement to me.  I know you pray about them, I can tell.  May God bless you.”

“I spend much of my time in a suitcase traveling to other countries. Being able to receive your daily posts are such a beautiful and enriching part of my day.”

“You have encouraged me everyday this year as I have recently discovered your message. I often share some of your messages with friends, believers and others who are not on the path yet. Thank you so much for daily inspiration in the faith of God.”

“You serve a very special purpose with your “Daily Thought.”  I’m very grateful.”

“This Day’s Thought often gives me confirmation and direction.  Blessings.”

This Day’s Thought-Tuesday

This Day's Thought

Christ never founded any church, never created any state, never passed any law, never established any government or other authority.  He wanted to put the law of God into the hearts of people, to make them self-governed.

Herbert Newton

This Day's Verse

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

Ephesians 1:7-10
The English Standard Version
