He who never meditates, is like a person who never looks in the mirror; therefore, not knowing that he is untidy, he goes out looking disorderly. The person who meditates and directs his thoughts to God, Who is the mirror of his soul, tries to know his faults, attempts to correct them, moderates his impulses, and puts his conscience in order.
Padre Pio
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.
1 Peter 4:12-13
The English Standard Version
There had been a shortage of beef and the butcher placed his last roast on the scale. “That’ll be $3.95,” he told the waiting customer. “That one’s too small; don’t you have anything larger?” the woman asked. The canny butcher returned the roast to the refrigerator, paused a moment, then took it out again. “This one,” he announced, “will be $4.80.” “Fine,” the customer said. “I’ll take them both.”
