This Day’s Thought-Thursday

This Day's Thought

Thoughtfulness is the beginning of great sanctity.  If you learn this art of being thoughtful, you will become more and more Christlike for His heart was meek and He always thought of others.  Jesus went about doing good.  Mary, His mother, did nothing else in Cana but thought of the needs of others and made their needs known to Jesus.

Mother Teresa

This Day's Verse

We know that in everything God works for good with those who love him, who are called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28
The Revised Standard Version

This Day’s Thought-Wednesday

This Day's Thought

We shall be made truly wise if we be made content; content not only with what we can understand, but content with what we do not understand—the habit of mind which theologians call, and rightly, faith in God.

Charles Kingsley

This Day's Verse

Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

Proverbs 14:34
The King James Version

This Day's Smile

There is a story of a rabbi and a cantor and a humble synagogue cleaner who were preparing for the Day of Atonement.  The rabbi beat his breast and said, “I am noting, I am nothing.”  The cantor beat his breast, and said, “I am nothing, I am nothing.”  The cleaner beat his breast, and said, “I am nothing, I am nothing.”  And the rabbi said to the cantor, “Look who thinks he’s nothing.”

This Day's Thought

The Christian life is stamped all through with impossibility.  Human nature cannot come anywhere near what Jesus Christ demands, and any rational being facing his demands honestly, says, “It can’t be done, apart from a miracle.”  Exactly.

Oswald Chambers

This Day's Verse

Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord!  Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart, who also do no wrong, but walk in his ways!

Psalm 119:1-3
The English Standard Version

This Day's Thought

Only to sit and think of God,
Oh what a joy it is!
To think the thought, to breathe the name
Earth has no higher bliss.

Frederick William Faber

This Day's Verse

Behold, I will bring to it health and healing, and I will heal them and reveal to them abundance of prosperity and security.

Jeremiah 33:6
The New International Version

This Day's Smile

My life collided with me.  Christ, the master Adjuster, investigated and cancelled my policy.  Then he gave me his.

This Day’s Thought-Special Note

This Day's Thought

Dear Ministry Members,

As we prepare for our next year together—and our 23rd year of ministry—we once again choose this month of November as our time for sharing our financial needs and asking for your support.

From our inception as a ministry, we have always sought to remain proper stewards of the resources the Lord has blessed us with, and our mission has remained to share a daily Christian message with as many around the world as we are capable of doing.

We are still amazed that we can reach fellow Christian brothers and sisters and seekers from so many countries on this earth, and even places where messages of faith are discouraged by various governmental entities.

So as we seek to honor our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with our work, we want you to know that your financial support does help us make all of this possible.  Each and every year, we state…“We can do so much with so little, but we need that little so very much!”

It has been a joy for us to serve you over these many years, and we so look forward to remaining together for as long as the Lord has in His design for us.  Thank you for your prayers for this ministry and thank you for your consideration of financial support at this time as we prepare our budgets for our this next upcoming year.

This Day's Thought

Thank You, Father, for this moment of quiet, and for the strength to pick up my tasks again, renewed and refreshed because I have paused to be with You, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord,  Amen.

Sherwood E. Wirt

This Day’s Thought-Thursday

This Day's Thought

When I first became a Christian, about fourteen years ago, I thought that I could do it on my own, by retiring to my rooms and reading theology, and I wouldn’t go to the churches and gospel halls…I disliked very much their hymns, which I considered to be fifth-rate poems set to sixth-rate music.  But as I went on I saw the great merit of it.  I came up against different people of quite different outlooks and different education, and then gradually my conceit just began peeling off.  I realized that the hymns (which were just sixth-rate music) were, nevertheless, being sung with devotion and benefit by an old saint in elastic-side boots in the opposite pew, and then you realize that you aren’t fit to clean those boots.

C. S. Lewis

This Day's Verse

O Lord my God, in You I put my trust; Save me from all those who persecute me; And deliver me,

This Day's Thought

The commands of God are all designed to make us more happy than we can possibly be without them.

Thomas Wilson

This Day's Verse

The Lord, your Redeemer who made you, says: All things were made by me; I alone stretched out the heavens.  By myself I made the earth and everything in it.

Isaiah 44:24
The Living Bible

This Day’s Thought-Tuesday

This Day's Thought

Jesus did not say, “Come to me and get it over with.”  He said, “If any man would come after me, let him take up his cross daily and follow me.”  Daily is the key word.  Our commitment to Christ, however genuine and wholehearted it may be today, must be renewed tomorrow…and the day after that…and the day after that…until the path comes at last to the river.

Louis Cassels

This Day's Verse

“To God belong wisdom and power; counsel and understanding are his.”

Job 12:13
The New International Version

This Day's Thought

There is nothing we can do to make God love us more.  There is nothing we can do to make God love us less.

Philip Yancey

This Day's Verse

Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again.  The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

John 4:13-14
The English Standard Version

This Day's Smile

The Christian church is a society of sinners.  It is the only society in the world in which membership is based upon the single qualification that the candidate shall be unworthy of membership.
