This Day’s Thought-Tuesday

This Day's Thought

Growing in faith is not so much like going through stages as it is like exploring a new country.  There is always more to be seen and understood and taken in.

Craig R. Dykstra

This Day's Verse

So I pray for you Gentiles that God who gives you hope will keep you happy and full of peace as you believe in him.  I pray that God will help you overflow with hope in him through the Holy Spirit’s power within you.

Romans 15:13
The Living Bible

This Day's Reprise

Preach the gospel everyday; if necessary, use words.

Francis of Assisi

This Day's Thought

God’s eternity and man’s mortality join to persuade us that faith in Jesus Christ is not optional.

A. W. Tozer

This Day's Verse

So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable.  Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.

1 Corinthians 15:58
The New Living Translation

This Day's Smile

The Reverend Henry Ward Beecher entered Plymouth Church on Sunday and found several letters waiting for him.  He opened one and found it contained the single word, “Fool!”  To the congregation on Sunday he said: “I have known many an instance of a man writing a letter and forgetting to sign his name, but this is the first instance I have ever known of a man signing his name and forgetting to write the letter.”

Henry Ward Beecher

This Day's Thought

Is your home a place of rest and refreshment where God Himself becomes more real to those who enter it?

Friends Book of Discipline

This Day's Verse

The Lord will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem; the earth and the heavens will tremble.  But the Lord will be a refuge for his people, a stronghold for the people of Israel.

This Day's Smile

What we sometimes ask for when we pray to God is that two and two may not make four.

This Day’s Thought-Thursday

This Day's Thought

Through his death on the cross Jesus Christ not only readjusts a man in conscience and heart to God, he does something grander, he imparts to him the power to do all God wants, he presences him with divinity, the Holy Spirit, so that he is garrisoned from within, and enabled to live without blame before God.

Oswald Chambers

This Day's Verse

The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

Proverbs 12:6
The King James Version

This Day's Reprise

I know God will not give me anything I can’t handle.  I just wish that He didn’t trust me so much.

Mother Teresa

Jeremiah 17:14

Dear God, Thank you for my parents, my sister Anita, and for my grandma and grandpa.  They are all real warm and special.  I forgive you for my brother Phil.  I guess you didn’t finish working on him.

This Day’s Thought-Special Update

This Day's Thought

Special Note:

Dear Ministry Members…We are pleased to announce that we are adding a new section to our daily messages, called “This Day’s Reprise.”

Over these 23 years together, I have always attempted to share new Thoughts and Smiles with you, and if you have ever noticed a “repeat” of something I had previously shared-even many years ago-that was not done intentionally on my part…and I will continue to seek out new Christian quotations of encouragement and inspiration that have not been shared by This Day’s Thought before.

However, as there are so many thoughts that are worth repeating we believed this might become a nice new feature to our daily ministry.  In addition, we hope to honor and assist our newest subscribers, as they have missed many years of our Christian content, where we will therefore be able to share with them the very “best of the best” of the previously shared messages and they will be able to kind of “catch up” with the rest of us!

We hope you will enjoy this new addition and you will soon begin seeing these “Reprises” on an occasional basis on any given day…contained within our one delivered daily message as always.

Thank you all for your participation in this ministry.  We hope you know how blessed we are to serve you…and may God bless you in your continued walk with Him.

In His Love, Greg for This Day’s Thought

This Day’s Thought-Tuesday

This Day's Thought

Prayer and helplessness are inseparable.  Only he who is helpless can truly pray.  Your helplessness is your best prayer.  It calls from your heart to the heart of God with greater effect than all your uttered pleas.

Ole Hallesby

This Day's Verse

Praise the Lord.  Praise the Lord, my soul.  I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.

Psalm 146:1-2
The New International Version

This Day’s Thought-Monday

This Day's Thought

Every human being should have three homes: a domestic home, a church home, and an eternal home.

Unknown

This Day's Verse

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Romans 5:1-2
The New King James Version

This Day's Smile

The way to happiness: keep your heart free from hate, your mind from worry.  Live simply, expect little, give much.  Fill your life with love.  Scatter sunshine.  Forget self, think of others.  Do as you would be done by.  Try this for a week and you will be surprised.

Norman Vincent Peale

This Day’s Thought-Friday

This Day's Thought

Prayer is not merely an occasional impulse to which we respond when we are in trouble: prayer is a life attitude.

Walter A. Mueller

This Day's Verse

Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.”  And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested.

1 Chronicles 4:9-10
The New King James Version

This Day's Smile

If seeds in the black earth can turn into such beautiful flowers, what might not the heart of man become in its long journey toward the stars?

C. K. Chesterton

This Day’s Thought-Thursday

This Day's Thought

Let us not underestimate how hard it is to be compassionate.  Compassion is hard because it requires the inner disposition to go with others to the place where they are weak, vulnerable, lonely, and broken.  But this is not our spontaneous response to suffering.  What we desire most is to do away with suffering by fleeing from it or finding a quick cure for it.

Henri Nouwen

This Day's Verse

I call upon thee, O Lord; make haste to me!  Give ear to my voice, when I call to thee!  Let my prayer be counted as incense before thee, and the lifting up of my hands as an evening sacrifice!

Psalm 141:1-2
The Revised Standard Version
