This Day’s Thought-Tuesday

This Day's Thought

There was a time when I dreaded the thought of moving.  I have enjoyed this house, and in many ways it has been pleasant.  But I know I will soon have to leave it, so recently I’ve been consulting the blueprints of my future residence.  The more I study God’s Word, the more I‘m overwhelmed by the advantages of that new home.  So much so, that I’m getting eager to go to be with the one who is preparing that place for me in the Father’s mansions.  Somehow this old crumbling house is losing its appeal.

M. R. DeHaan

This Day's Verse

“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”

Luke 11:9-10
The New International Version

This Day's Reprise

God loves us the way we are, but He loves us too much to leave us that way.

This Day’s Thought-Monday

This Day's Thought

Only God’s chosen task for you will ultimately satisfy.  Do not wait until it is too late to realize the privilege of serving Him in His chosen position for you.

Beth Moore

This Day's Verse

O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.  You know when I sit down or stand up.  You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.  You see me when I travel and when I rest at home.  You know everything I do.  You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord.  You go before me and follow me.  You place your hand of blessing on my head.  Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand!

Psalm 139:1-6
The New Living Translation

This Day's Smile

Difficulties are God’s errands.

This Day’s Thought-Friday

This Day's Thought

I have talked to doctors and nurses who have held the hands of dying people, and they say that there is as much difference between the death of a Christian and a non-Christian as there is between heaven and hell.

Billy Graham

This Day's Verse

Look down from thy holy habitation, from heaven, and bless thy people Israel, and the land which thou hast given us, as thou swarest unto our fathers, a land that floweth with milk and honey.

Deuteronomy 26:15
The King James Version

This Day's Smile

There’s your plan and there’s God plan—and yours doesn’t matter.

This Day’s Thought-Thursday

This Day's Thought

I love you, Lord, not doubtingly, but with absolute certainty.  Your Word beat upon my heart until I fell in love with you, and now the universe and everything in it tells me to love you, and tells the same thing to us all.

Augustine

This Day's Verse

“For you shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills before you shall break forth into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.”

Isaiah 55:12
The English Standard Version

This Day's Reprise

God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains; it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world.

C. S. Lewis

This Day’s Thought-Wednesday

This Day's Thought

There is not a flower that opens, not a seed that falls into the ground, and not an ear of wheat that nods on the end of its stalk in the wind that does not preach and proclaim the greatness and the mercy of God to the whole world.

Thomas Merton

This Day's Verse

My son, if your heart is wise, My heart will rejoice—indeed, I myself; Yes, my inmost being will rejoice When your lips speak right things.

Proverbs 23:15-16
The New King James Version

This Day's Smile

Do not have your concert first and tune your instruments afterwards.  Begin the day with God.

This Day’s Thought-Tuesday

This Day's Thought

One might wonder how Jesus could ever use his disciples.  They were impulsive, temperamental, easily offended, and had all the prejudices of their environment.  In short, these men selected by the Lord to be His assistants represented an average cross section of the lot of society in their day.  Not the kind of group one would expect to win the world for Christ.

Robert E. Coleman

This Day's Verse

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.”

Mark 13:31
The English Standard Version

This Day's Reprise

I believe Satan to exist for two reasons: first, the Bible says so, and second, I’ve done business with him.

This Day’s Thought-Monday

This Day's Thought

Never yield to gloomy anticipation.  Place your hope and confidence in God.  He has no record of failure.

L. B. Cowman

This Day's Verse

I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; before the “gods” I will sing your praise.  I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your unfailing love and your faithfulness, for you have so exalted your solemn decree that it surpasses your fame.  When I called, you answered me; you greatly emboldened me.

Psalm 138:1-3
The New International Version

This Day's Smile

Dear God, I read that home is where God (that’s you) is.  What does that mean, I wonder?  Does it mean if I am at religious school I am not away from home?  Do I have to be in our living room to be with you?  Are you everywhere?  I am not sure.  I just know that you are in my heart.

This Day’s Thought-Friday

This Day's Thought

God is not a supernatural interferer; God is the everlasting portion of his people.  When a man born from above begins his new life, he meets God at every turn, hears him in every sound, sleeps at his feet, and wakes to find him there.

Oswald Chambers

This Day's Verse

“I am the Lord, I have called you in righteousness, I have taken you by the hand and kept you; I have given you as a covenant to the people, a light to the nations, to open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, from the prison those who sit in darkness.”

Isaiah 42:6-7
The Revised Standard Version

This Day's Smile

Mothers write on the hearts of their children what the world’s rough hand cannot erase.

This Day’s Thought-Thursday

This Day's Thought

Nothing lies beyond the power of man if it lies within the will of God.

Unknown

This Day's Verse

Save me, O God, by Your name, And vindicate me by Your strength.  Hear my prayer, O God; Give ear to the words of my mouth.  For strangers have risen up against me, And oppressors have sought after my life; They have not set God before them. Selah  Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is with those who uphold my life.  He will repay my enemies for their evil.  Cut them off in Your truth.  I will freely sacrifice to You; I will praise Your name, O Lord, for it is good.  For He has delivered me out of all trouble; And my eye has seen its desire upon my enemies.

Psalm 54
The New King James Version

This Day's Reprise

I have so many things to do today, I dare not ignore my time with God.

This Day’s Thought-Wednesday

This Day's Thought

A pastor is a leader.  It is the leader’s responsibility to know when it’s time to leave.  If the pastor waits until the people conclude that it’s time for him to leave, then the pastor has become the follower.

Edward A. White

This Day's Verse

The way of the guilty is crooked, but the conduct of the pure is upright.

Proverbs 21:8
The English Standard Version

This Day's Smile

Making amends is about cleaning up your side of the street.
