This Day’s Thought-Wednesday

This Day's Thought

It is the image of God reflected in you that so enrages hell; it is this at which the demons hurl their mightiest weapons.

William Gurnall

This Day's Verse

The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

Proverbs 18:10
The King James Version

This Day's Smile

Did you feel the darkness tremble?
When all the saints joined in one song
And all the streams flow as one river
To wash away our brokenness.

When you accept the fact that sometimes seasons are dry and times are hard and that God is in control of both, you will discover a sense of divine refuge.

This Day's Thought

Grace does not exist to make us successful.  God’s grace exists to point people to a love like no other love they have every known.  A love outside the lines.

This Day’s Thought-Friday

May this most special Sunday be joyous and meaningful for you all!

This Day's Thought

Because he lives I can face tomorrow,
Because he lives all fear is gone.
Because I know he holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because he lives.

Gloria Gaither

This Day's Verse

But very early on Sunday morning they took the ointments to the tomb—and found that the huge stone covering the entrance had been rolled aside.  So they went in—but the Lord Jesus’ body was gone.  They stood there puzzled, trying to think what could have happened to it.  Suddenly two men appeared before them, clothed in shining robes so bright their eyes were dazzled.  The women were terrified and bowed low before them.  Then the men asked, “Why are you looking in a tomb for someone who is alive?  He isn’t here!  He has come back to life again!  Don’t you remember what he told you back in Galilee—that the Messiah must be betrayed into the power of evil men and be crucified and that he would rise again the third day?”  Then they remembered and rushed back to Jerusalem to tell his eleven disciples—and everyone else—what had happened.  (The women who went to the tomb were Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James, and several others.)

Luke 24:1-10
The Living Bible

This Day's Smile

The nails didn’t keep Jesus on the cross—
His love for you did.

This Day’s Thought-Thursday

This Day's Thought

The Cross does not abolish suffering, but transforms it, sanctifies it, makes it fruitful, bearable, even joyful, and finally victorious.

Joseph Rickaby

This Day's Verse

Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour.  And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”  And some of the bystanders, hearing it, said, “This man is calling Elijah.”  And one of them at once ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine, and put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink.  But the others said, “Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to save him.”  And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit.  And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.  And the earth shook, and the rocks were split.  The tombs also were opened.  And many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised, and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many.  When the centurion and those who were with him, keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with awe and said, “Truly this was the Son of God!”

Matthew 27:45-54
The English Standard Version
