This Day’s Thought-Wednesday

This Day's Thought

There is something you can do to make this world better.  You can contribute one consecrated life.

This Day's Verse

Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.

Proverbs 9:9
The English Standard Version

This Day's Smile

Christianity is not “an idea in the air.”  It is feet on the ground going God’s way.

Frederick W. Brink

This Day’s Thought-Tuesday

This Day's Thought

Joy is not gush; joy is not jolliness.  Joy is simply perfect acquiescence in God’s will, because the soul delights itself in God Himself.  “I delight to do Thy will,” said Jesus, though the cup was the Cross, in such agony as no man knew.  It cost Him blood.  O take the Fatherhood of God in the blessed Son the Saviour, and by the Holy Ghost; rejoice in the will of God, and nothing else.  Bow down your heads and your hearts before God, and let the will, the blessed will of God, be done.

H. W. Webb-Peploe

This Day's Verse

When I think of thy ways, I turn my feet to thy testimonies; I hasten and do not delay to keep thy commandments.

Psalm 119:59-60
The Revised Standard Version

This Day’s Thought-Monday

This Day's Thought

God has no need of marionettes.  He pays men the compliment of allowing them to live without him if they choose.  But if they live without him in this life, they must also live without him in the next.

Leon Morris

This Day's Verse

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

Isaiah 40:29
The New International Version

This Day's Smile

God’s mercies are as old as eternity and yet they are new every morning.

This Day’s Thought-Friday

This Day's Thought

Remember the awful truth that I can limit Christ’s power in the present, although I can never alter God Almighty’s order for a moment.

Seed Thoughts

This Day's Verse

“You shall not hate your brother in your heart, but you shall reason frankly with your neighbor, lest you incur sin because of him.  You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.”

Leviticus 19:17-18
The English Standard Version

This Day's Smile

This Day’s Thought-Thursday

This Day's Thought

There are many who want me to tell them of secret ways of becoming perfect and I can only tell them that the sole secret is a hearty love of God, and the only way of attaining that love is by loving.  You learn to speak by speaking, to study by studying, to run by running, to work by working; and just so you learn to love God and man by loving.  Begin as a mere apprentice and the very power of love will lead you on to become a master of the art.

Francis de Sales

This Day's Verse

For that is what God is like.  He is our God forever and ever, and he will guide us until we die.

Psalm 48:14
The New Living Translation

This Day’s Thought-Tuesday

This Day's Thought

Fast from criticism, and feast on praise;
Fast from self-pity, and feast on joy;
Fast from ill-temper, and feast on peace;
Fast from resentment, and feast on contentment;
Fast from jealousy, and feast on love;
Fast from pride, and feast on humility;
Fast from selfishness, and feast on service;
Fast from fear, and feast on faith.

Arthur Lichtenberger

This Day's Verse

To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:

Ecclesiastes 3:1

This Day's Thought

Father, let me hold thy hand and like a child walk with Thee down all my days, secure in thy love and strength.

Thomas a Kempis

This Day's Verse

Yet the righteous holds to his way, and he that has clean hands grows stronger and stronger.

Job 17:9
The Revised Standard Version

This Day's Smile

Thank God for inventing pain!  I don’t think he could have done a better job.  It’s beautiful.

Philip Yancey

This Day’s Thought-Friday

This Day's Thought

Practice a daily quiet time in which to listen intently for God’s direction, listen more deeply than your own thoughts.

Norman Vincent Peale

This Day's Verse

“For who is God, but the Lord?  And who is a rock, except our God?  This God is my strong refuge and has made my way blameless.  He made my feet like the feet of a deer and set me secure on the heights.”

2 Samuel 22:32-34
The English Standard Version

This Day's Smile

Sooner or later everyone sits down to a banquet of consequences.

Robert Louis Stevenson

This Day’s Thought-Thursday

This Day's Thought

Today’s churches are witnessing some new births, but very little genuine growth, thus, evangelization apart from disciplization.  There is a great need for messages geared to maturation.  Lambs need to become sheep and, thus, capable of reproduction of more lambs.  There is no better way to move into maturity in Christ than to give careful study to the life of Christ.

Earl D. Radmacher

This Day's Verse

Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.

Proverbs 12:1
The King James Version
