This Day’s Thought-Tuesday

This Day's Thought

The great people of the earth today are the people who pray.  I do not mean those who talk about prayer; nor those who can explain about prayer; but I mean those people who take time and pray.  They have not time.  It must be taken from something else.  This something else is important, very important and pressing, but still less important and less pressing than prayer.

S. D. Gordon

This Day's Verse

And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son?  It says, “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”

Hebrews 12:5-6
The New International Version

This Day's Thought

The first link between my soul and Christ is not my goodness but my badness, not my merit but my misery, not my standing but my failing, not my riches but my need.

Charles Spurgeon

This Day's Verse

For the Lord your God walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you and give your enemies over to you; therefore your camp shall be holy, that He may see no unclean thing among you, and turn away from you.

Deuteronomy 23:14
The New King James Version

This Day's Smile

This Day's Thought

There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.

C. S. Lewis

This Day's Verse

For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

This Day’s Thought-Wednesday

This Day's Thought

God is looking for men and women who are willing to take on challenges too difficult for them to handle, trusting Him to carry the load.

This Day's Verse

In the fear of the Lord one has strong confidence, and his children will have a refuge.

Proverbs 14:26
The English Standard Version

This Day's Smile

You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young as your self-confidence, as old as your fear; as young as your hope, as old as your despair.

This Day’s Thought-Tuesday

This Day's Thought

Make it the first morning business of your life to understand some part of the Bible clearly, and make it your daily business to obey it in all that you do understand.

John Ruskin

This Day's Verse

No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.

Isaiah 54:17
The King James Version

This Day’s Thought-Monday

This Day's Thought

Keep my heart, my mind, and soul focused on God, not man.  Remembering my fulfillment comes from God not people.

This Day's Verse

Give thanks to the God of gods.  His love endures forever.

Psalm 136:2
The New International Version

This Day's Smile

I see Jesus between myself and another person, so I see Him first.  It helps me to see the value in that person.  Their weaknesses are turned into strengths.

This Day’s Thought-Friday…Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

Wishing you a most joyous and meaningful celebration.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

In His Love, Greg for This Day’s Thought

This Day's Thought

God came as a baby, giving and entrusting Himself to me.  He expects my personal life to be a “Bethlehem.”  Am I allowing my natural life to be slowly transformed by the indwelling life of the Son of God?  God’s ultimate purpose is that His Son might be exhibited in me.

Oswald Chambers

This Day's Verse

“Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

Luke 2:14
The New King James Version

This Day's Smile

A Christmas Prayer

Let us pray that strength and courage abundant be given to all who work for a world of reason and understanding; that the good that lies in every man’s heart may day by day be magnified; that men will come to see more clearly not that which divides them, but that which unites them; that each hour may bring us closer to a final victory, not of nation over nation, but of man over his own evils and weaknesses; that the true spirit of this Christmas Season—its joy, its beauty, its hope, and above all its abiding faith—may live among us; that the blessings of peace be ours—the peace to build and grow, to live in harmony and sympathy with others, and to plan for the future with confidence.

This Day’s Thought-Thursday

This Day's Thought

I am thinking of you today because it is Christmas and I wish you happiness, and tomorrow because it will be the day after Christmas, I shall still wish you happiness and so on through the year.  I may not be able to tell you about it every day, because I may be far away; or because both of us may be very busy; or because I cannot even afford to pay the postage on so many letters, or find the time to write them, but that makes no difference, the thought and the wish will be here just the same.  Whatever joy or success comes to you will make me glad without pretense, and in plain words, goodwill to you is what I mean, in the spirit of Christmas.

Henry Van Dyke

This Day's Verse

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.  (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)  And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.  And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)  To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

Luke 2:1-5
The King James Version

This Day’s Thought-Wednesday

This Day's Thought

To become a child in relation to God is the condition for entering the kingdom.  For this, we must humble ourselves and become little.  Even more: to become “children of God” we must be “born from above” or “born of God.”  Only when Christ is formed in us will the mystery of Christmas be fulfilled in us.

Catechism of the Catholic Church

This Day's Verse

God sent a man, John the Baptist, to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony.  John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light.  The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.

John 1:6-9
The New Living Translation

This Day's Smile

May the gift of His Love be yours this Christmas!
