This Day’s Thought-Tuesday

This Day's Thought

Our problems and troubles are really a gracious sharing with us by God of His cross.  In a sense He is allowing us to take part in the redemption of the world through Christ by letting us carry small- very small- splinters of His cross.

Unknown

This Day's Verse

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

1 Samuel 16:7
The New King James Version

This Day's Thought

Nothing can take the place of the touch of God in the soul and the sense of Someone there.

A. W. Tozer

This Day's Verse

Such confidence we have through Christ before God.  Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.

2 Corinthians 3:4-5
The New International Version

This Day's Smile

The most valuable thing the Psalms do for me is to express the same delight in God which made David dance.

C. S. Lewis

This Day's Thought

If your morals make you dreary, depend upon it they are wrong.

Robert Louis Stevenson

This Day's Verse

But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.  Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.

This Day’s Thought-Wednesday

This Day's Thought

Jesus comes to meet us.  To welcome him, let us go to meet him.  He comes to us in the hungry, the naked, the lonely, the alcoholic, the drug addict, the prostitute, the street beggar.

Mother Teresa

This Day's Verse

For you have a new life. It was not passed on to you from your parents, for the life they gave you will fade away. This new one will last forever, for it comes from Christ, God’s ever-living Message to men.

1 Peter 1:23
The Living Bible

This Day's Smile

I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world.  This makes it hard to plan the day.

This Day's Thought

The Father knows that it is in our daily lives that we most easily become anxious.  He knows, too, that our daily lives are made up of little things, not great things.  Therefore He beckons to us in a friendly way and says, “Just bring all those little things to me: I am most willing to help you.”

Ole Hallesby

This Day's Verse

Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and glory are in his sanctuary.

Psalm 96:6
The New International Version

This Day's Smile

I never really look for things.  I accept whatever God throws my way.  Whichever way God turns my feet, I go.

This Day's Thought

It is right that you should begin again every day.  There is no better way to finish the spiritual life than to be ever beginning.

Francis de Sales

This Day's Verse

All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

This Day’s Thought-Thursday

This Day's Thought

I am the tool with which God works.  My virtue is to participate in this work, and I can do so if I keep the instrument which is given to me, namely my soul, in immaculate condition.

Leo Tolstoy

This Day's Verse

For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

This Day's Thought

God writes with a pen that never blots, speaks with a tongue that never slips, and acts with a hand that never fails.
