This Day's Thought

Sometimes even the most willing person, who eagerly desires to serve the Lord, does not know what direction to take.  Simply wait—but wait in prayer.  He will come at the right time to fulfill His vision for you.

This Day's Thought

God has a special reason, a unique design in each friendship.  He chose to surround your life with these certain treasured dear ones for good reason.  These Christian friends are the ones with whom you will live for eternity, enjoying an even deeper dimension of friendship.

This Day’s Thought-Monday

This Day's Thought

Convert your thoughts into prayer.  As we are involved in unceasing thinking, so we are called to unceasing prayer.  The difference is not that prayer is thinking about other things, but that prayer is thinking in dialogue.  It is a move from self-centered monologue to a conversation with God.

Henri Nouwen

This Day's Verse

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.  Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

Psalm 46:1-2
The King James Version

This Day's Smile

The world drinks to forget; the Christian drinks to remember.

yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.

This Day's Thought

Father,
give us wisdom to perceive you,
intellect to understand you,
diligence to seek you,
patience to wait for you,
eyes to behold you,
a heart to mediate on you
and a life to proclaim you,
through the power of the Spirit
of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Benedict

This Day's Verse

And if the Spirit of God, who raised up Jesus from the dead, lives in you, he will make your dying bodies live again after you die, by means of this same Holy Spirit living within you.

Romans 8:11
The Living Bible

This Day's Thought

Fretting springs from a determination to get our own way.

Oswald Chambers

This Day's Verse

Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues with injustice.

Proverbs 16:8
The English Standard Version

This Day's Smile

Imagine yourself as a living house.  God comes in to rebuild that house.  At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing.  He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on: you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised.  But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make sense.  What on earth is He up to?  The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of—throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards.  You thought you were going to be made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace.  He intends to come and live in it Himself.

C. S. Lewis
