This Day’s Thought-Wednesday

This Day's Thought

He does not need to transplant us into a different field, but right where we are, with just the circumstances that surround us, He makes His sun to shine and His dew to fall upon us, and transforms the very things that were before our greatest hindrances, into the chiefest and most blessed means of our growth.

Hannah Whitall Smith

This Day's Verse

The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein, for he has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers.

Psalm 24:1-2
The English Standard Version

This Day's Smile

Life without a relationship with God is like a television without the antenna.

This Day’s Thought-Tuesday

This Day's Thought

I do not know when I have had happier times in my soul, than when I have been sitting at work, with nothing before me but a candle and a white cloth, and hearing no sound but that of my own breath, with God in my soul and heaven in my eye…I rejoice in being exactly what I am,—a creature capable of loving God, and who, as long as God lives, must be happy.  I get up and look for a while out of the window, and gaze at the moon and stars, the work of an Almighty hand.  I think of the grandeur of the universe, and then sit down, and think myself one of the happiest beings in it.

This Day's Verse

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Matthew 6:19-21
The New International Version

Your faith sees his blood.

This Day's Verse

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Acts 2:21
The King James Version

And In Closing…and Beginning…

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness.  I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead.  I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life.  I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior.  In Your Name.  Amen.

Billy Graham

This Day’s Thought-Today…and Forever

This Day's Thought

Today, it is snowing where I live and there remain health concerns throughout the world, but it is still Easter, and there will always be Easter as Jesus has remade us through His life, death and resurrection, and that can never be altered.

May you be blessed on this day of celebration.  And may God continue to bless you in your walk with Him.

This Day’s Thought-Friday

This Day's Thought

I can live forever with God.  Trouble, illness, and death may come but my real self—my soul—will go on living in another existence with Almighty God.  That is one of the plain meanings of Easter.

Clarence Seidenspinner

This Day's Verse

Early on Sunday morning, as the new day was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went out to the tomb.  Suddenly there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and rolled aside the stone and sat on it.  His face shone like lightning and his clothing was a brilliant white.  The guards shook with fear when they saw him, and fell into a dead faint.  Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be frightened!” he said.  “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified,  but he isn’t here!  For he has come back to life again, just as he said he would.  Come in and see where his body was lying.  And now, go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and that he is going to Galilee to meet them there.  That is my message to them.”

Matthew 28:1-7
The Living Bible

This Day's Smile

By the wood of the Cross the work of the Word of God was made manifest to all; his hands are stretched out to gather all men together.

This Day’s Thought-Thursday

This Day's Thought

The Cross is the way; the Resurrection the goal.  The Cross is of time; the Resurrection for eternity.  And the Cross itself is primarily not the suffering of death, but the victorious struggle of Life over and through death.

E. I. Watkin

This Day's Verse

By this time it was about noon, and darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock.  The light from the sun was gone.  And suddenly, the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn down the middle.  Then Jesus shouted, “Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!”  And with those words he breathed his last.

Luke 23:44-46
The New Living Translation

This Day’s Thought-Wednesday

This Day's Thought

Today one grave is open, and from it has risen a sun which will never be obscured, which will never set, a sun which creates new life.  This new sun is the Crucified One, the Son of God.

John Vianney

This Day's Verse

Would you like me to release to you this ‘King of the Jews’?”  Pilate asked  (For he realized by now that the leading priests had arrested Jesus out of envy.)  But at this point the leading priests stirred up the crowd to demand the release of Barabbas instead of Jesus.  Pilate asked them, “Then what should I do with this man you call the king of the Jews?”  They shouted back, “Crucify him!”  “Why?” Pilate demanded. “What crime has he committed?”  But the mob roared even louder, “Crucify him!”  So to pacify the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them.  He ordered Jesus flogged with a lead-tipped whip, then turned him over to the Roman soldiers to be crucified.

Mark 15:9-15
The New Living Translation

This Day’s Thought-Tuesday

This Day's Thought

But because he was once emptied I am each day refilled;
My spirit-arteries pulse with the vital red of love;
Poured out, it is his life that now pumps through my own heart’s core.
He bled, and died, and I have been transfused.

Luci Shaw

This Day's Verse

When he had finished praying, Jesus left with his disciples and crossed the Kidron Valley.  On the other side there was a garden, and he and his disciples went into it.  Now Judas, who betrayed him, knew the place, because Jesus had often met there with his disciples.  So Judas came to the garden, guiding a detachment of soldiers and some officials from the chief priests and the Pharisees.  They were carrying torches, lanterns and weapons.  Jesus, knowing all that was going to happen to him, went out and asked them, “Who is it you want?”  “Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied.  “I am he,” Jesus said. (And Judas the traitor was standing there with them.)  When Jesus said, “I am he,” they drew back and fell to the ground.  Again he asked them, “Who is it you want?”  “Jesus of Nazareth,” they said.  Jesus answered, “I told you that I am he. If you are looking for me, then let these men go.”  This happened so that the words he had spoken would be fulfilled: “I have not lost one of those you gave me.”

John 18:1-9
The New International Version

This Day’s Thought-Monday

This Day's Thought

On the cross Jesus was guilty of nothing but God treated Jesus as if he had committed personally every sin ever committed by every person who would ever believe…though in fact he committed none of them.  That’s what substitution means.

John MacArthur

This Day's Verse

And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”  Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you.  For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.  But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”  And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

Matthew 26:26-30
The New King James Version

This Day's Thought

God puts his ear so closely down to your lips that he can hear your faintest whisper.  It is not God away off up yonder; it is God away down here, close up—so close up that when you pray to him, it is more a whisper than a kiss.

Thomas De Witt Talmage

This Day's Verse

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that overcomes the world, our faith.

1 John 5:4
The Revised Standard Version

This Day's Smile

Should anyone knock at my heart and say, “Who lives here?”  I should reply, “Not Martin Luther, but the Lord Jesus Christ.”
